Maria Montessori
"The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind."
Each student gets a partner and between the two of them, they are given a tissue box to decorate as their own "Mystery box."
When they are finished decorating the boxes, the students will take turns placing objects from around the room inside of the mystery box.
As is the focus of Montessori's methods, the students will use their senses (touch or smell) to try and figure out what the object in the mystery box is!
After the student is either finished guessing or the object's name is revealed by the partner, the students switch roles and the next student finds an object to put in the box.
Students will write down their observations for each object so that they can share their thought process with the class afterward in a whole group discussion.
